The broken old man had a son, wished upon him when he was his parents son. A son capable of great acts of kindness; and a son capable of creating family turmoil. The old man described his son as the straw that stirs the drink.
Scholastically Indifferent was the label that was hung upon the son; he had a mother who was a noted scholar, who pushed him to succeed, who didn’t always understand what did or didn’t motivate him. They fought, sometimes loud and long.
The old man understood his son though…he too…suffered from Scholastic Indifference.
